The Really Delicious Drink with No Name

Mix a Tajín, organic sugar, and cinnamon in a small bowl at a 1-1-1 ratio.

Prep a rocks glass by brushing a dollop of agave directly onto the outside of the glass.  Sprinkle some of the Tajín mixture onto the prepared glass.

In a shaker filled with ice add the Male Bien mezcal, carrot-turmeric juice, the juice of ½ a freshly squeezed lime, and another dallop of agave.

Shake vigorously and then strain into your prepped rocks glass with some ice.  Garnish with a lime wheel and enjoy.

NOTES:

The # count pour method.

A count is supposed to be a 1 second pour from a bottle with a pour spout.  For those people who prefer a more exact measure, a count is supposed to be the equivalent of a ½ ounce pour.  So a 5 count pour would be a five second pour or 2 ½ ounces.

Mal Bien

The people at Mal Bien take mezcal very seriously.  They have out-nerded themselves in their enthusiasm and their website can be a little confusing as result.

There are 11 different types or “expressions” of Mezcal produced under the Mal Bien Label, each from a different ranchero owner and they are labeled by that owners family name and referred to as expressions.  The one used in this episode is the Lucio Morales Lopez expression which is sometimes referred to as the “White Label”.
